Mav's First Bath
He wasn't too happy about this bath. I'm sure he wonders why I took his sunscreen - in the form of dirt - away from him.

Family Fun
Maverick munches grass after a bath while Diego and I keep him company. I don't need the lead rope anymore - he just hangs around or follows along behind at his own Maverick pace.
-
Maverick Kiss
Maverick LOVES to kiss the camera. He actually lips it - to check and see if it's his favorite - FOOD.

Standing Still
This was Maverick's first time ever being tied to a trailer. When we first got him, he would pulll back on a rope - he was so afraid of having his head tied up - probably the result of his capture. I was so proud of him at this moment - look at the quiet, peaceful look in his eye.

Da Boys
Mav and Shadow, wild horse meets prissy show horse. Maverick has taught Shadow so much about standing up for yourself. Shadow didn't know how to do that. Today they play and fight like brothers - sometimes pretty roughly. But they love each other despite their differences.

Cows
This is Maverick's first view of a cow - that we know about. On this adventure he circled a herd of cows and then cut one out and trotted it around. He loved it! The next day, he piled me in the arena because he wanted to leave. There weren't any cows to play with and he was bored!

The Ocean
This is Maverick's favorite place to horse camp, in Pt Reyes. He loves the ocean - although he cannot understand why we walk so far, past all of the really green grass - to stop on the beach - without grass.

On Guard
Maverick is always on guard - listening and watching. He's especially watchful when we're horse camping. this shot is at Pt Reyes - where the raccoons come into camp nightly, deer roam freely and critters make themselves right at home with the horses. Mav says, "Just like home!"
